Print Media Group acquires Paragon Printing assets and staff
Following the appointment of administrators to Paragon Printing in Wodonga last month Print Media Group today announced its commitment to acquire the Albury-Wodonga operation by purchasing all plant and equipment, under a new entity within their organisation, to be called South Pacific Print Group.

Given present economic conditions, the prospect of the operation’s closure in Wodonga has created a significant impact on the regional country town. Print Media Group will do everything possible to help maintain the livelihood of the dedicated and experienced staff, many of whom have been with the Company for many years.

However, the operation’s success will depend on the amount of support given by Paragon’s customer base. Our ability to re-employ and grow the number of staff will be dependent upon the level of support received from existing Government and Corporate customers that utilise the products manufactured by Paragon.

Agreement was reached after extensive negotiations and discussions with all parties. This has been a very complicated process given all the circumstances surrounding Paragon’s legal status. We have been working closely with the AMWU, administrators Hall Chadwick, and Moore Australasia to find a solution. All parties have greatly assisted us in this endeavour.

South Pacific Print Group has held detailed discussions with Moore Australasia in relation to forming a strategic alliance. The major terms and conditions of this relationship have been agreed in principle. The parties expect to formally document this alliance within the next month.

The purchase includes an extensive range of printing presses and finishing equipment necessary to produce many specialty products. The Company produces a range of critical jobs for Federal Government and large Corporate organisations.

Print Media Group is a wholly privately owned Australian organisation, employing over 300 personnel nationally in manufacturing and specialised print solutions delivery. This addition to the Group complements the existing operations, which include well recognised industry leaders Print Media Group, Ducor Australia and Wickliffe New Zealand.
